Round yoke sweater in my odd and ends.
Having gathered my stash of chunky wool together the main part of this garment will be the natural black/dark brown of the Rowan Black Welsh mixed up with the jazzy hand dyed Strathearn Fleece and Fibre chunky and some Artesano and Erica Knight thrown in - literally! The iconic circular yoke is a standard and inspired by Elizabeth Zimmerman and Leonardo Da Vinci. This is not a major fashion statement it's more of a blanket or a hug - it'll hang around on chair backs and be wo

I kept the idle stitches on the same needle and so I knew where the top of the foot of the sock was. After knitting till I was 5cm short of the toes I knit to the needle with the idle stitches on, K1, k2tog through the back of the loops, then knit to the last 3 sts on that needle, k2together and k1. I repeated this for the stitches that were the bottom of the foot and then worked a knit round. I decreased like this on every other round untill I had 24 stitches and I put the o

To turn the heel we go back to the Maths. I did 28 rows for the flap and at either side of the work you should see 14 big loops - eventually you'll pick up these stitches so... that's 2x14 = 28 but for the foot of your sock we have to get back to 64 stitches again so the 28 extra stitches we have to lose! Yeah, what's that all about? but that's how the sock is shaped to get over the heel. So - we lose 14stitches st the heel and another 14 at the sock sides to get back to 64

The rest of the sock top/cuff is knitted - just knitted really no purling for stocking stitch in the round. I reckon I'll do about 11 or 12cm of stocking stitch and that'll be long enough to cover my hairy legs (oooooh oversharing!) I'm not making heavy weather of these - no stitch markers yet. Also the maths is important - amazing the number of Maths Teachers you meet at knitting groups/exhibitions! With socks there's halving and conserving number. I also like 48 that's a g

It is blowing a gale here in Scotland, I was in need of comfort knitting. Socks in sparkly Opal Sock
I started with the KnitProKarbonz dpns- 2.5mm - the kids bought me one Christmas so I was thinking of them as I worked. How are their jobs going? Are they safe and warm? and when will I ever be a Granny? etc etc. I cast on 64 stitches because I like that number. Socks are very mathematical and there's doubling and halfing going on. Socks are also compact little projects - very portable and within most price ranges. Hand knitting isn't always a cheap hobby. I find with the mul
